Juunju Burrburr Ngannthuumgay Juunju - Strong Women (120590)
Why is it important for Women to be on Country and how does it affect us. When we are on country and close to our Ancestors, when You listen to country it tells you what it needs.
We Juunjuwarra people fought to get our land back. We joined with the greens in 1993 and led The Starcke Campaign to stop the sale of our land on Wall Street to international Land Speculators. Now we are finally moving back onto our traditional country, but we have been left a mess, Illegal camping, minning, and climate change, feral animals and weeds have all damaged our country. Our Ranger team are our front line, moving back to resettle and care for our country.
Cultural Observation- Juunjuwarra have developed a way of collecting data and information about country through bringing back traditional observation. Being on country and close to Country you see things, you see what's healthy. WE turn these into data points that help us understand and monitor country, changes, health of country
Juunjuwarra Women are leading our people onto country and out of Poverty. Us women are reliable; we turn up to work and we work hard. We also look after our spirit, our health and our children. We run the office, we work alongside the men on country.
