Alaina Badham 1
  1. Australian Border Force, Cairns, Queensland, Australia

Australia’s vast coastal regions and remote landscapes hold deep cultural and environmental significance for Indigenous communities. They are also critical areas for border protection, biosecurity, and environmental sustainability. The Australian Border Force (ABF) recognises the vital role of Indigenous Women Rangers in protecting Sea Country and managing border security risks.

This session will explore threats of illegal activities such as smuggling (drugs, weapons, wildlife or people trafficking) and Illegal foreign fishers illegally operating within the Australian migration zone.

ABF will discuss how traditional knowledge and modern enforcement strategies can work together to strengthen border security.
