Design an Indigenous Women Ranger Drone Program (120634)
The Indigenous Women Ranger Network are building a funding proposal to look at getting specialised Indigenous women ranger training in certified aerial drone operations. Drones are increasingly used in land and sea management to monitor and collect data. From assessing before and after fire impacts, looking at river scapes, walking tracks, mangrove health and seagrass beds, drone data can be used to benchmark condition or inform changes in real time. In this session we will explore the uses of drones in environmental management data and ask rangers what is happening on their Country already and what sort of training, equipment or experience would be needed. There is also a space for discussing challenges and barriers for accessing drone training and qualifications.
